I finally made a page! This is my designated page idea, and can't wait to see what y'all had. My first example being, inspired by my intro post for Moonlight, is
ANTHONY ANDERSON http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0026364/
He's been around for years. Typically the token black guy or one of many black actors in black films, and usually the funny guy in both. Some of his films include "Romeo Must Die" with Aliyah and Jet Li, "Kangaroo Jack" with Jerry O'Connell, and the Scary Movies (minus the Wayne Bros).
I had noticed him, and thought he was funny, but it wasn't until "The Shield", Season 6, as badass drug lord Antwon Mitchell that I feel in love with him and gained mad respect for him.
Antwon Mitchell was nothing like I had ever seen him in before, and I loved every minute of it. It takes some balls to go from Scary Movie to The Shield, and some acting chops to have me forget everything you've ever done prior to this drug lord and be scared shitless of you.
The Shield is jammed packed with multi-dimensional characters and characters that you don't want to run into on the street, we are dealing with a VICE squad after all. However, the most memorable, ruthless, and terrifying character for me, throughout all 7 season, was Antwon. Anthony Anderson put his whole heart and soul into that character, and you couldn't take your eyes off of him.
This season also happens to be the same season as my beloved Alex O'Laughin (Moonlight's Mick), which makes my geek heart do jumpy claps when I think they were both in "The Back-Up Plan" (HORRIBLE movie)(hey, it was free). So, for me to forget that Alex was in this season, says a lot...cause Alex is HOTT!
I saw a trailer/preview of the new HBO show Broadwalk Empire yesterday, and it reminded me of the time when Steve Bushemi was "I love that guy!" Now he's making a great name for himself.
It made me think of the other actors who were once the background players and now leading me. Just to name a few: Sam Rockwell Philip Seymore Hoffman Mark Ruffalo Mark Strong (always the bad guy, yes, but now is popping up in everything!)
I was talking to Chris to other day about Sam Rockwell. He asked what movies he was in...I was like, "Everything" but couldn't think of something that he would know. How is that possible!
